Stephan Reinhardt: The NV Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Roy Soleil is
100% Chardonnay from Mesnil-sur-Oger's clay-limestone soils. Aged
six months in 70% stainless steel and 30% in barrel, the
straw-yellow colored wine (the lot L040716 is based on 2011 plus
30% reserve wines from 2000 to 2010) has a dense and complex nose
with perfectly ripe fruit, brioche and chalky aromas. It is a rich,
fleshy, mouth-filling, well-structured and intensely aromatic yet
highly elegant blanc de blancs with good freshness and mineral
purity on the long, complex, aromatic finish. Bottled in 2012, the
disgorgement date is unknown but this grand cru should be aged at
least three years on the second lees. Dosed as a brut with roughly
six grams per liter of residual sugar. This is a gorgeous blanc de
blancs. Tasted November 2017.
